Director of Financial Aid

REPORTING TO: Vice President of Business Services

Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan is seeking a Director of Financial Aid. With its distinctly Christian environment, Concordia serves as a liberal arts university of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

„« The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the office.
„« The position requires 3 to 5 years of experience at increasing levels of responsibility in a financial aid office in an enrollment management environment.
„« A Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience is required.
„« Applicants should be able to work on their own in a fast-paced environment and should be familiar with all U.S. Department of Education software and Microsoft Office applications.
„« Candidates should have experience in a liberal arts college environment, and be experienced in the strategic use of Institutional Aid, including both need-based and merit-based grants and scholarships, including athletic scholarships.
„« Concordia uses PowerFAIDS and PowerCAMPUS to manage its operations and experience with these applications is highly desired.


DUTIES:
„« Advise students regarding eligibility and responsibility, program requirements and institutional aid programs
„« Package students according to institutional, federal and state guidelines
„« Work closely with the Office of Admissions in recruitment, and with the Registrar and Student Accounts Offices
„« Provide information individually and in group presentations
„« Retrieve, process and transmit data to and from external sources; establish and maintain scholarship donor relations; and perform related duties as assigned.
„« Work effectively and cheerfully with students, parents, and adult students.


KNOWLEDGE:
„« Policies and procedures governing federal and state financial aid
Computer systems and applications related to financial aid award processes
„« Financial and statistical record keeping techniques
„« Effective oral and written communication
„« Plan and prioritize work. Analyze situations and develop an effective course of action
„« Interpret and apply state and federal regulations and guidelines governing financial aid
„« Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff
